StainlessSwim

Custom WooCommerce development for a configurable pool product with dynamic pricing, delivery logic, checkout validation and custom purchasing flows.

Custom WooCommerce configurator with delivery logic and checkout validation

Project overview

StainlessSwim needed more than a standard WooCommerce product page. The product includes multiple configuration options, pricing rules, delivery conditions and location-based logic that had to work together as one clear purchasing flow.

I worked on the custom WooCommerce functionality behind the configurator, including product configuration, dynamic pricing, delivery selection, checkout validation and order data handling.

The goal was to keep the buying experience simple for the customer while supporting more complex business rules behind the scenes.

The challenge

A standard WooCommerce product setup was not flexible enough for the required purchasing flow.

The configurator needed to handle:

  • Multiple product configuration options
  • Dynamic price updates based on selected options
  • State and warehouse selection
  • ZIP-based delivery logic
  • Custom checkout validation
  • Persistent configuration data
  • Order metadata
  • Third-party integrations
  • Custom business rules around delivery and purchasing

My role

WooCommerce development & custom functionality

I was responsible for implementing and improving the custom ecommerce logic, including:

  • Custom WooCommerce product configuration
  • Dynamic pricing logic
  • Delivery and warehouse selection
  • ZIP-based customer flow
  • Checkout validation
  • WooCommerce session handling
  • Custom order metadata
  • Frontend JavaScript interactions
  • AJAX functionality
  • Integration with existing WooCommerce checkout
  • Performance and code organization improvements

Solution

Instead of trying to force the requirements into a collection of unrelated plugins, the configurator was built around custom WooCommerce logic.

The frontend manages product selections and pricing updates, while the backend validates the configuration and keeps the required data consistent throughout the WooCommerce flow.

Delivery information is stored in the WooCommerce session and later attached to the order, ensuring that the data selected during configuration remains available through checkout and order processing.

The implementation was also split into separate components for delivery data, session handling, order logic and validation to make the system easier to maintain.

Key functionality

Dynamic Product Configuration
Customers can configure the product using multiple options while the price updates based on their selections.

Custom Delivery Logic
State, warehouse and ZIP information influence the purchasing and delivery flow.

Checkout Validation
Required configuration and delivery data are validated before an order can be completed.

Persistent Selections
Configuration choices can be preserved during the customer journey instead of being lost between steps.

WooCommerce Integration
Custom logic works inside the normal WooCommerce cart, checkout and order system rather than replacing it.

Custom Business Rules
The purchasing experience supports requirements that would be difficult to implement using a standard WooCommerce product setup.

Technologies

WordPress

If you want the stack to be a little more specific, you could also add:

D3.js
TopoJSON

because of the interactive U.S. map work.

Result

A custom WooCommerce purchasing flow that supports complex product, delivery and checkout requirements while keeping the customer experience straightforward.

The project is a good example of where WooCommerce becomes especially useful: when a store needs functionality that goes beyond standard products, variations and plugins.
